A collection of work by local artist Kate Morrison.
My drawings harbour consistent themes that I hold dear to my heart. Many of us live in an environment that is becoming more urban. Our families and those that we bring with us (our domestic pets and other animals that we have introduced via colonialism) are affected by traffic, gentrification, infill housing, and displacement. Some of the houses in my pictures are no longer here in Christchurch, having been replaced by infill housing.
These are happy works meant to amuse and engage the viewer with their detail. Older housing, urban/suburban environments, happy memories, our domestic pets (especially cats) and how we get along together living side by side, are all a continuing narrative that my work embraces.
The works that you will find in this exhibition all represent these themes and are consistent with the style of work that I am known for.
Original framed drawings, large limited edition giclees, and a variety of small reproductions are included. All reproductions and giclees are professionally printed, archival inks on hahnemuhle watercolour paper.
