This is your chance to see the top six finalists (3 string and 3 piano) compete live in the 2024 National String and Piano Competition.
These six talented musicians will compete for a prize pool of $20,000, plus the opportunity to perform with the Auckland Phiharmonia.
This year’s National String Competition once again teams up with the equally iconic Lewis Eady National Piano Competition for a weekend of top-level performances. This is a rare chance to see very best of this country’s young classical artists on the cusp of their musical careers.
The Competition is one of New Zealand’s most prestigious events for emerging artists and is jointly presented by the Hill Family Foundation for Arts and Music and the Chiron Lewis Eady Foundation.
Thirty of New Zealand’s most talented emerging string and piano players, studying domestically and abroad, have been chosen to perform in the live Competition rounds and compete for prizes on offer.
Thirty semi-finalists have been selected to compete in two semi-final rounds on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December at the University of Auckland School of Music. Semi-final round tickets are available on the door: Adults $15/Students $10/ten years & under are free. The six finalists will be announced on Sunday evening at the University of Auckland School of Music.
