Experience the best of Carterton's history, with a stroll down memory lane Led by the historical society through the beautiful streets and sights that Carterton has to offer.

Starting point: Meet at St Mark's Anglican Church, 185 High Street South, Carterton.
This year’s Carterton Heritage Walk will take place in High Street South and explore the social importance of churches and public houses, or hotels, to Carterton's early colonial settlers. We’ll visit St Marks Anglican Church and learn about the building and its heritage stories. We’ll also investigate the history of the other early Carterton churches and their people; the Wesleyan, Presbyterian and Catholic Churches. Our last stop will be the Royal Oak Tavern where we’ll enjoy self-funded refreshments and explore the history of Carterton’s many early hotels. Public meeting spaces were the glue in colonial Carterton society.
