Whakarongo mai KITA friends from through the years!

We thank you for continuing to listen to our music, and being curious with us through the dark times and the good.

It's been a quiet year for KITA as Nikita finishes her film LOVE LIVES HERE, inspired by the band's latest EP from 2023. Her and Ed have been scoring the feature length film with an original score. WATCH THIS SPACE, because we are cooking up big. (nervous laughter).

Nikita has also been on the frontlines of World of Wearable Arts, headlining this year's epic show DREAM AWAKE with an epic bunch of other featured artists, as well as having a film acting heavy year!

Ed Moog Man aka ZUKE is amidst releasing his debut album, a couple of singles already out in the world and not just existing in Ed's room and his dream sphere (check em out! It goes hand in hand with his epic photography that accompanies the album)! And our beloved Mr Rickastah Cranson has been seen flitting his sticks about at the latest Jazz Festival, as well as being thick in the world of passing on his world knowledge of the drums onto our tamariki.

We invite you all to a very special KITA show, first time back at the Rogue & Vagabond (in years!) where KITA first cut their teeth.

After we booked the gig with Sir Chris at the Rogue, we realised the gig was a week after the music video release of CHASING SUMMER, a collaboration between Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant and An Ogre. So, to bring it all together, we are celebrating the release of their single CHASING SUMMER with a classic epic KITA set, and a KITA rendition of CHASING SUMMER.

We also see that it is a hard time for people, so we are dampening our ticket prices, $10 unwaged/students, or $20 waged - from Undertheradar, and there will be door sales assuming we haven't sold out.

For you philomaths and readers out there, here's a bit more on CHASING SUMMER the single that is OUT NOW on all platforms:

“Chasing Summer” is a first time collaboration between Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant and An Ogre.
For Nikita, “Chasing Summer” is the first release under her solo Artist name ‘Nikita 雅涵 Tu-Bryant’ since 2016. Known for her recent work headlining Aotearoa’s biggest spectacle WOW, her acting work in Far North and Avatar 2, as well as her most recent music releases with her band KITA (alongside Grammy award winning producer Tommasso Colliva *MUSE/RAZORLIGHT). Tu-Bryant is a Taiwan-born multidisciplinary Artist currently based in Pōneke, Wellington.

An Ogre is Neil Crispin Aldridge's pop electronica output.

Neil spent 15 years as a sound engineer in the music industry helping other people produce music (including Rod Stewart, All Saints, and Emma Bunton), and 10 years working with dialogue and ADR in the film industry helping other people make films (including King Kong, Tintin, The Hobbit trilogy, District 9, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader). Now he has finally got around to releasing music and sound art of his own.

An Ogre is one strand of that...

Nikita:
“My parts in Chasing Summer were written in my van on the long drives in between touring cities. I am often on the road, and people have commented on how boring my road trips must be as I prefer my 3-9 hour stints in silence. That’s often when the ideas come. When you have constant information and sound coming in, it’s hard to hear your own thoughts, or your own ideas. Chasing Summer was no exception. I was driving back to Pōneke from Tāmaki Makaurau, when I wrote the melody and lyrics to this song. This love song is inspired by the narrative of chasing only the good times, “Chasing Summer again...deny the winter” as well as how the human condition lends us to wanting and longing for what’s new instead of sticking around for the long haul. Another metaphor used in the song refers to the tauhou, (wax-eye bird) literally meaning new arrival or stranger that often comes when the weather warms. I love collaborating with other producers and artists, Neil has been super fun to collaborate with.”
