Each artist based at Gover St Gallery is unique in their approach and talent, to give you are wider understanding of their individual motivations

Suzan Kostanich : Award Winning Fibre Artist
Suzan’s current work is the culmination of four decades of working with fibre and textile techniques. This current work begins with process of hand making a canvas upon which to work, primarily process driven this canvas is worked to produce further surface design and texture.

Brenda Cash : Floral Painter
"Pushing paint around is my happy place". Key elements are bold and vibrant colours laid down with bold brushstrokes and corralled with signature black lines. Flowers are often the chosen subject matter to express joy with a nostalgic vibe. In January 2024 I was fortunate enough to move into a studio within the Gover St Gallery and can now invite visitors into my working space. I enjoy creating very much and I hope to share that delight with the viewer.

Heidi Griffin : Painter
Heidi comes back to painting after many years of running businesses and bringing up children. Inspired by the artwork around her every day at her gallery, Gover St Gallery, Heidi had an itch that needed to be scratched and paintbrushes that needed dusting off. 2024 is the year for more creativity and proving to herself she can still do it. Heidi's art is bold, colourful and inspired by whatever catches her eye and mind, with an undercurrent of humour.

David Rogers : Award Winning Painter
David's paintings are a dance of dots, patterns, fine lines and colour. Finding influences from Aboriginal art after spending many years in Australia and patchwork quilts he saw a friend make when returning to New Zealand, the fusion of both artforms along with his own Kiwi twist brings his own detailed and highly intricate artworks.

Gaye Atkinson ; Award Winning Raku Potter
Gaye Atkinson's award winning Raku pottery is based on an ancient Japanese method for firing famous ceremonial tea bowls. Her interpretation is more in line with the American, metaphorical adaptation. Both of these low firing processes involve extracting the pot out of the (outside) kiln at up to 1000C and placing it in a bin of combustibles such as sawdust, newspaper or dried vegetable matter.

Holly Smith : Painter
I am inspired by Bright Bold Colour, Florals and Pattern. I love creating abstract joyful paintings and screen prints. Some of my pieces are inspired by British Gardens ,and growing up in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Some are purely experimental and imaginative. Art is so healing for me and I paint for love and the feeling it gives me. I hope to share that love with you I look forward to meeting you. I will be onsite at Gover Street weekends only.

Mrs D : Printmaker
Are you ready to immerse yourself in a world of creativity and artistry? Step into our pop-up studio and discover the enchanting realm of Mrs D Arts, where passion meets craftsmanship in every stroke and print.

Rachel Joy ; Painter
A returning home to the deep beauty of New Zealand has seen Rachel create a body of work that explores abundance, wonder and joy. Using strong, rich colour palettes of acrylic and oil. Rachel’s trademark welcoming compositions pull the viewer into her relaxing dreamscapes.

Veronica Tee : Award Winning Pastel Artist
Born in Malaysia, Veronica Tee is a landscape pastel and acrylic artist, inspired by the gift of nature, it’s ever-changing faces and vibrant personality. Her art journey has taken her many places and led to New Zealand
