Handel, Messiah
The trumpets shall sound as the NZSO rings in a Kiwi summer with that evergreen Christmas staple: Handel’s Messiah.
Originally premiered in Dublin as a charity fundraiser, the Messiah has gone on to be one of the most performed and best loved works in the repertoire. We welcome Thomas Blunt to our shores to give his special interpretation. A specialist in conducting and directing opera, Blunt started out as chorus master at Glyndebourne and has since enjoyed debuts with Welsh National Opera, Konzert Theater Bern, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He is joined by four singers, all either Lexus Song Quest finalists or winners, all enjoying careers that are taking off here and around the globe. It is our pleasure to welcome Madison Nonoa, Anna Pierard, Filipe Manu and Benson Wilson home to rejoice in the festive spirit.
