‘I’m standing in a bathroom, saying their names like the noise is a key for some primordial lock.’
A snapshot of three rooms where the dead have been erased from memory. It only takes a pill. It isn’t a choice. You keep a photograph.
One Question Theatre presents their first original production: On Travelling Backwards to Punish Ourselves as Ghosts, written by Liam Hinton, directed by Ruby Brett, Jack Knowles, and Liam Hinton.
A husband and wife alone after their son’s funeral, two government workers trapped with an active-shooter, and an elderly woman visited by her estranged daughter – On Travelling Backwards is an exploration of memory and human connection, where the desire to circumvent pain precipitates emptiness.
Runtime: two hours (with intermission).
Content warning: strong language, discussion of child-death, discussion of suicide and depiction of attempted-suicide, discussion of anorexia and mental-illness.
