Join Us for Our Forest Workday!
Meet at Ōtanewainuku Shelter - 680 Mountain Road, Oropi
(about 7km from Oropi Road junction).
Please arrive by 8.45am to ensure everyone is present at the briefing and H&S talk.
New volunteers - once the briefing is completed you will be assigned to an experienced volunteer. Please make yourself known to the person in charge on the day when you arrive and assemble where required. Please sign up as a volunteer on our website if you haven't already.
Volunteers are welcome to and encouraged to bring their own loppers/hammer/folding pruning saw, as numbers attending now are outgrowing the tools we have available.
Please ensure all tools, gloves and boots are clean of soil and seeds so we protect the biosecurity of our beautiful virgin forest.
Sturdy walking shoes or boots will be required, as well as warm gear, raincoat, drink, and snacks if going out in the bush. Gardening gloves are recommended.
Hi-Viz vest and personal first aid kit are also recommended and allergy medications need to be in your first aid kit for wasp stings etc.
A reasonable level of fitness is required as you need to be aware of changes in the terrain.
Sausage Sizzle, biscuits and hot/cold drinks will be provided afterwards.
