No Experience Required
All materials Provided
You will walk away with woven taonga at the end of this class no matter what level of learner you are.
It is important that everyone turns up on time for karakia (blessing).
Light refreshments will be provided and you are welcome to bring shared kai.

TEINA TICKETS
(Beginners)
- We harvest harakeke for you (first 2 classes only).
- Introduction to tikanga and how to hauhake (harvest). You will be able to harvest for yourself next time you join. Buy a TUAKANA ticket and come prepared.
- 3+ hour weaving class
- All tools provided
- In your 1-2 classes - weave a variety of putiputi (flowers)
- In you 2nd-3rd classes - weave small kono & kōnae (2 and 4 sided kete)
For tikanga purposes, BEGINNERS' TICKET SALES CLOSE TWO DAYS before wānanga giving us time to hauhake for you. (Tickets are fully refundable through Eventfinda).
TUAKANA TICKETS
(Intermediate Learners)
- Tuakana should come to class with your own harakeke and have some tools
- Make multiple sizes, shapes & ways to close kōnae and kono
- Waikawa style weaving.
- Learn tākiri, kōhua, and basic kete
- Other taonga may be introduced depending on your personal commitment
