Celebrate the Wellington Heritage Festival by discovering the story behind renowned artist Rita Angus’s artistic documentation of the changes in her historic neighbourhood cemetery.
Hear about the well-known artist, Rita Angus, who lived and worked in Thorndon in the 1960s and opposed the building of the Wellington Urban Motorway through the cemetery. When hundreds of headstones were removed and stacked in storage near her home, she made many sketches. This tour follows her trail.
This tour starts at the Seddon Memorial, by the parking area at the end of Kinross Street, and finishes at the Bolton Street Cemetery Museum, lower Bolton Street.
Children aged 12 and under are free; well-behaved dogs, on leads, are welcome.
