Come and catch up at our third Rural Business Network for the year hosted by Andrew Forsythe, chief scientist at NIWA in Ruakaka.

Aquaculture Research at scale to de-risk production for the future.

Our focus is very much on the use of land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) to farm high value fish species. This is a global pattern of seeking increased control of production in the face of climate change, weather extremes, the complexities of retaining social licence and evolving market demand. Using our experience as a key science provider to the sector, we will discuss some of the principal drivers of change and discuss how the industry is responding. Finally I will give an update on our efforts to develop commercial scale production of yellowtail kingfish in RAS at NIWA’s Northland Aquaculture Centre here in Ruakaka.

Welcome drink and nibbles included. If you are a Whangarei A&P Society member you can attend these events for free: https://whangareiap.org.nz/about/#membership
