Thirty of New Zealand’s most talented emerging string and piano players, studying domestically and abroad, have been chosen to perform in the live Competition rounds of the 2024 National String and Piano Competition and compete for prizes on offer. The Competition is one of New Zealand’s most prestigious events for emerging artists and is jointly presented by the Hill Family Foundation for Arts and Music and the Chiron Lewis Eady Foundation.

Semi-final Rounds I and II:
This is your chance to see very best of this country’s young classical artists on the cusp of their musical careers. Thirty semi-finalists (15 string and 15 piano) will compete live in the Semi-Final Rounds over two days (Sat 14 and Sun 15 Dec). Six finalists will be announced at the conclusion of Semi-Final Round II on Sunday evening at the University of Auckland School of Music.

Semi-final Round I and II Tickets - Door Sales Only: Adults $15 / Students $10 / ten years & under are free.

Grand Final:
The six finalists announced at the conclusion of Semi-Final Round II on Sunday evening will then go on to compete in the Grand Final on Monday 16 December at the Westlake Girls’ High School Event Centre with a prize pool of $20,000, plus the opportunity to perform with the Auckland Phiharmonia.
