Songwriters Showcase #92

Coming up on 15 September, with a lineup of: Michaela Tempany, Ari Leason, Cecilia’s Crop, and BDSN

Michaela Tempers - Michaela Tempers is a musician based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. While studying for her Master’s in Creative Writing, she began writing a new collection of songs exploring the complexities of womanhood. These songs formed the basis for her forthcoming EP. She has opened for Creedence Clearwater Revival, Boy & Bear ,and Sarah Blasko, and her forthcoming EP is set to be released in November 2024.

Ari Leason - I am a folk singer/songwriter from Otaki. I am inspired by the underdog. I write about my own experiences such as growing up in a radical community. Last year I released my first EP called Pile of Dust and this year I have been working on my second album which I'm thinking of calling Can I Be Vulnerable?

Cecilia’s Crop - Cecilia’s Crop is one part Carlin, one part Jack, one part Rodney, one part Sam and four parts goofy, groovy music. Cecilia get their name from a gorgeous house based on Cecil Road in Wilton. Best described as a funk pop sort of band, with a little bit of RnB and pop punk here and there. We love dancing with our audience and just having fun on stage.

BDSN - Songs of love, loss, mermaids, werewolves and everything else. BDSN is Ben, Darrel, Scott Nigel. Four well known local musicians rocking the house with some of Nigel’s non-folky originals. Rock / country, and a dash of something else!
