Step into a powerful celebration of joy, hope, and unity this Christmas with Te Harinui—a local production that brings to life the great story of the Gospel and its impact on Aotearoa, New Zealand.
This extraordinary event draws its name and inspiration from the Māori phrase meaning "The Great Joy," commemorating the historic moment on Christmas Day 1814 when Reverend Samuel Marsden shared the message of salvation at Oihi Bay, the first Christian service on these shores. It was a time of hope and partnership, as the Good News was proclaimed among Māori communities, planting seeds of faith that would grow for generations.

Our production weaves narrative into a vibrant, contemporary celebration that honours the bicultural heritage of New Zealand. Featuring cultural performances, haka, worship, and a stunning creative retelling of the Christmas story, Te Harinui embraces the message of Christ’s birth as the Savior of the world.

What to Expect:
• Cultural Performances: Experience the beauty of Māori and Pākehā traditions brought together in harmony, celebrating the shared heritage of Aotearoa.
• Inspiring Worship: Uplifting music and praise to celebrate the joy of Christ’s coming, reminding us of His transformative power.
• Engaging Storytelling: A retelling of the Gospel and its arrival in New Zealand, showcasing themes of reconciliation, peace, and enduring hope.
• Community Connection: A gathering for families, friends, and communities to come together and share the spirit of Christmas.
Join us at the Due Drop Centre in Manukau on December 14 for Te Harinui—a night that promises to stir hearts, deepen faith, and unite us all in the great joy of the Gospel. Let’s come together to celebrate the Savior’s birth and the legacy of faith that continues to shine brightly in our land.
