Tōtara Reserve Open Day

Tōtara Reserve is our only Regional Park in the Horizons Region. It is nestled in the Pohangina Valley and is one of the best and most accessible examples of the diverse lowland forest that was once widespread in the Horizons Region. The reserve covers 340 ha of native forest and offers a wide range of attractions, including walking tracks, swimming holes, an adventure playground, and an abundance of native plants and wildlife. If you have never visited our Regional Park before this is the perfect opportunity!

Come along to this free family friendly event to learn about all things Tōtara Reserve. Explore stalls with fun interactive activities, guided walks and a FREE sausage sizzle.

We will be operating bus transport to and from the reserve at a cost of $5 per adult (children under 14yrs are free - just select a Child ticket(s) to reserve seats). For each adult ticket purchased you will receive a token to use at the onsite Mouthwater Coffee cart for one free hot drink of your choice on the day (you will be given a token as you exit the bus at the reserve)*.

Buses will depart as follows:

Palmerston North from Horizons Regional Council, 15 Victoria Ave at 9.30am
Feilding from Railway Station at 9.45am
Ashhurst from Plunket Room, 63 Cambridge Ave at 9.50am

Buses will depart Tōtara Reserve Regional Park at 1pm for those travelling back to Palmerston North and 1.10pm to Feilding.

Bus takes approx. 1 hour from Palmerston North and 45 mins from Feilding return.

Terms and conditions
* One goodie bag per family.
* You must engage with at least five of the stalls or walks on offer.
* Winners will be drawn for the camping prize on Tuesday 15 October and notified by email.
* Two free nights must be used in the 2024-2025 camping season and will be subject to availability of a powered site - you are not able to utilise this between 20 December 2024 - 10 January 2025.
* Refund not permitted unless cancelled due to weather conditions.
* Mouthwater Coffee Company will be available on site for exchange of one free hot drink per coupon - they will be the only food vendor on site.
* Tickets only need to be purchased if you are intending to travel via buses provided - if you wish to travel by car you will not require a ticket.
* Children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult.
