Patrick Ness is a force to be reckoned with. As well as writing novels for adults, Ness (American-British) is one of the world’s most lauded children’s writers: in 2011 he won the Carnegie Medal for Monsters of Men, and in 2012 he won for A Monster Calls, one of the most powerful novels about loss ever written. Ness’s latest book is his first for junior readers: Chronicles of a Lizard Nobody is an absurd, sweet schoolyard drama about a monitor lizard called Zeke whose mother is grieving the loss of Zeke’s father. Ness has never one to shy away from calling out bullies, or analysing the state of it all, and we are delighted to present this hour with him at Verb Readers and Writers Festival. Chaired by Kim Hill.
A discounted ‘Ticket + book’ bundle is available for a copy of Chronicles of a Lizard Nobody by Patrick Ness. If purchased, your book can be collected from Unity Books, 57 Willis Street, Wellington in advance of the festival, or at the event from Unity's book table.
