In this introduction to painting, Melissa will start the class on a journey through the basic elements of painting in acrylic and and oil paint. This class is structured for students new to painting as well as returning students from prior 123 of Painting classes or the like.
The class is structured around a series of exercises that explore the foundations of still-life and portrait painting. New students will be informally assessed in order to create a programme that best meets their needs.
With an emphasis on simple beginnings, the lessons will include
- colour theory
- skin tones, structure and composition
- copying master paintings in order to improve observational skills while learning the components of structure and composition
- students bringing in what they choose to paint and if one is experiencing 'art block', Melissa will have images to paint from
Melissa focuses on a personalised approach for the student with an emphasis on finding that person’s passion in art.
Courses run on either Monday or Wednesday evenings. Class is suitable for all levels of experience, we start from where you are.
