Just like the stunning world of RELICS, everything in our world is ultimately made out of individual building blocks: atoms. Atoms lie at the foundation of all that surrounds us, so what could we build if we could manipulate them like LEGO®?

Professor Mikkel Andersen and his team at Te Whai Ao – Dodd-Walls Centre, University of Otago, have been investigating the possibilities.

Join us to hear Mikkel share the inspiration for his work in this area – from Ernest Rutherford’s earliest experiments into atomic structure to the key quantum principles required for controlling individual atoms with lasers – and discuss its future applications.

Tūhura and our partners at Te Whai Ao – Dodd-Walls Centre are excited to offer this talk free of charge, in celebration of UNESCO'S International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

This event is part of RELICS Late Nights. Check out the rest of the schedule here and grab yourself tickets to RELICS: A New World Rises, Dunedin’s hottest new exhibition.
