Ceremonial Spendour - Hamilton Civic Choir Concert

Do come and hear the Hamilton Civic Choir and special guest choir Choralation (as seen in the new movie “TINĀ”) for an unforgettable afternoon of grand choral music in our opening concert of 2025, Ceremonial Splendour.

This concert will feature many popular and timeless famous choruses, including Vivaldi's "Gloria" from the Gloria Mass, the majestic "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin, and the dramatic "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana. The choir will also perform the powerful "Kyrie" from Haydn’s Nelson Mass, as well as other pieces that range across time, including Monteverdi’s "Cantate Domino" from the 1600’s to more modern works like "Cantate Gloria" by Alan Bullard written 25 years ago. The concert will be accompanied by our wonderful collaborative pianist Francis Cowan on both piano and organ.

Joining us for this performance is the premier award-winning choir from Westlake Girls and Boys High Schools, Choralation. Formed in 2005 and currently conducted by Fiona Wilson, they quickly earned a reputation for excellence in choral performance and are the most successful choir in the history of the New Zealand National Schools Choral Festival "The Big Sing,” winning the top Platinum award four of the last five years. Choralation will be singing pieces on their own as well as both choirs joining together for a number of works.
