In this workshop we will explore the possibilities of what our whenua/our land has to offer: twigs, leaves, shells, feathers, rocks, bark are just a few.
You will learn some basic techniques such as making cordage(string) from plant fibres, basic hand weaving and knotting. I will talk about harvesting, preparing and storing of natural materials.
Instead of having to complete one project, you will create a series of small, whimsical objects by experimenting in a fun way without pressure or overthinking. The goal of this workshop is to (re) connect with te taiao/nature that is around us and finding your creative flow, so you will be confident experimenting further based on the learnings in this workshop.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as for creatives who want to explore a new field, adding some basic but versatile techniques to their basket of knowledge.

Most materials and tools will be provided. A list of suggested items will be sent to you by email with your booking.

Where: 32 Parenga Road, Ōtaki Gorge
Cost: $ 140 (bring your own lunch/no cafes close by), refreshments provided
