A global phenomenon meets Cuba Street! Hosted by Wellington Sculpture Trust, Creative Capital Arts Trust, and Wellington City Council, PARK(ing) Day reimagines urban spaces by turning car parks into temporary parks, art installations, and performance spaces. Come see how creativity can reshape our city, one parking space at a time.
Head down to Cuba Street between Vivian and Ghuznee from 10am–8pm to get involved. At PARK(ing) Day 2024, 24 participants transformed 28 Cuba Street car parks into dance floors, artist studios, gardens, living and reading rooms and a ceramics studio just to name a few. Come on down and check out what's on offer for 2025!
The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat.
Save the date and RSVP via the Cuba Street Summer Series: PARK(ing) Day Facebook page.
Thanks to the generous support of Wellington City Council, this is a free event!
