Double Bill: KUINI by Lyncia Muller & Shapes in the Clouds by Tauveve Andy Tilo-Faiaoga

Experience two powerful works — celebrating ancestral wisdom, intergenerational connection, and bold Pacific storytelling through dance.

KUINI

“You lay down obligations only in the grave.” – Her Majesty Queen Sālote Tupou III
KUINI is a visually striking tribute to the life, poetry, and enduring legacy of Queen Sālote Tupou III — Tonga’s beloved matriarch of arts, language, and leadership.

Blending traditional Tongan movement such as tau‘olunga with contemporary dance, choreographer Lyncia Muller reimagines the Queen’s heartfelt verses and music through a modern lens. This evocative work honours Queen Sālote’s artistic brilliance and cultural influence while inviting a new generation to reflect on faiva fakatonga — the rich legacy of Tongan artistic expression.

Shapes in the Clouds

What does it mean to dream big?
Shapes in the Clouds is an intergenerational dance-theatre story full of imagination, heart, and movement. Through dance, poetry, song, and digital media, this uplifting work follows ROBOTZ, a spirited 11-year-old superhero-in-training, and his new friend MITI as they navigate childhood wonder, family connection, and the unseen pressures of growing up.

Created by Tauveve Andy Tilo-Faiaoga, this all-ages production explores the dynamic between a father with unfulfilled dreams and a child bursting with possibility — reminding us that hope, healing, and connection can be found in the spaces between generations.

A night of movement that speaks to the past, present, and future of Pacific storytelling. Not to be missed.
