Starting at the end of January, Dr Julian Paton will be driving awareness of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD). Rheumatic Heart Disease destroys the lives of around 1,400 children in New Zealand each year.
To bring attention to this devastating disease and raise research funds for the cure and prevention - Dr Paton, with the support of Land-Rover New Zealand - will be completing a journey from Dunedin in the south, to Auckland in the north, in New Zealand’s oldest Land-Rover ‘R860020' - production car 20 off the assembly line in Solihull in 1948.
This is the sixth convoy of seven to support Julian and R860020 and accompany him on his journey north and to bid him farewell from the Taupo district. Fortunately and by popular request, the Taupo convoy is on Saturday the 15th February as Julian makes his way north to Hamilton.
Meeting point is near the Taupo Water front in the car park of Kaimanawa Reserve – Kaimanawa Street near the intersection of Northcroft Street.
Meet at 09:00am for a 09:30am departure.
