About the event
Taking participants away from their usual way of thinking towards ceramics and pulling out of their comfort zone.
The workshop begins with a brief discussion about the basic elements of sculpture, which can be applied to sculpture in any medium: Space, line, plane, mass/volume, negative space, value, texture, colour.
Then the real work begins - building forms and shapes, and combining forms to create sculptural stand-alone works of contrasting shapes!
Day two focuses on surface effects, by making quick slab-based vessels and practicing mark-making, textures, patterns, additions, and random effects. Participants will finish, fine tune, and underglaze their pieces, ready for firing.
