Historian Rüdiger Mack will talk with Professor Emeritus Dr Koenraad Kuiper about his book, First Encounters, which offers a new and different view of the beginnings of our shared Māori-Pākehā history.
By examining previously undervalued text, artworks and oral histories, he has solved some of the mysteries surrounding events during Tasman’s 1642 voyage, including the first encounters between Europeans and Māori in Golden Bay.
