Granny squares got their name as this used to be how ‘Granny” made a quick and simple crocheted blanket. In more recent times, creatives, including Portia have reshaped and modernised the items that can be made the squares. Realising through clever design that contemporary items can be made easily using different colour combinations in the granny squares. Don’t forget to check out our pinterest board for inspiration.

Crochet is something beginners can learn quickly. A big advantage of making granny squares for your items is you can crochet without having to lug the ‘in progress’ item around with you.

In this Granny Square Crochet workshop you will focus on making the squares and getting the technique right, as well as knowing your materials.



Things to bring:
3-4 balls of 100g 8ply acrylic yarn (or 8ply cotton of the equivalent if you prefer)
1 x 4.00mm crochet hook
scissors
