Step into a unique fusion of skills, storytelling, and indulgence with Huntress and A Lady Butcher. This immersive event combines a hands-on workshop on sustainable hunting and butchery with the luxury of wine pairing. You’ll learn how these two worlds—hunting and butchery—intersect, while enjoying a curated selection of wines that embody the spirit of the land.

What to Expect:

Huntress Experience:
Guided by "The Huntress", Jannine Rickards, a passionate advocate for sustainable hunting and wild wine, you’ll be introduced to a deep, meaningful connection between the land, the food we consume, and the wines we enjoy. Shaped by a childhood spent in the hills of the Coromandel Peninsula and years of honing her skills in the Wairarapa, Jannine brings a lifetime of knowledge to the table.
This workshop is more than just hunting; it’s about honoring the land’s intricate balance and how that is showcased in wine. Alongside her teachings, you’ll discover how Huntress Wines reflect indigenous food-growing practices and how each bottle celebrates the connection between the land’s cycles and the wines that grow from them.

A Lady Butcher Experience:
While immersing yourself in the art of wine making, Hannah Miller Childs, aka. A Lady Butcher will guide you through the ancient craft of butchery and curing meat. She’ll show you how to break down a whole venison leg before methodically curing it into what will become bresaola, all the while offering valuable tips on everything from ethical sourcing to the most efficient techniques. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a complete novice, this session will leave you with practical skills to take home—plus a deeper understanding of the land-to-table journey.

Wine Pairing:
As you absorb all the knowledge from the Huntress and Butcher, you’ll enjoy expertly paired wines throughout the experience. Huntress Wines have been carefully chosen to complement each stage of the workshop, with a focus on organic, terroir-driven bottles that reflect the spirit of the land and match esquistly with the charcuterie selection prepared. Sip on hand-picked reds, whites, and rosés while snacking on a selection of cured meats and engaging with the instructors and fellow participants.
