Join us for a workshop facilitated by Soil of Cultures where we will exchange culinary traditions through the preparation of four recipes taught by recent and settled migrants and refugees. Together, participants will cook and share stories of their journeys or experiences with forced migration. Afterwards, we will come together to enjoy the dishes we have prepared.

These recipes and migrant stories will be compiled into a book, available on the day for a koha. Proceeds will go to New Settlers Family and Community Trust, Migrante Aotearoa and more to support their efforts in resettling migrant and refugee communities.

Places in this workshop are limited to 20 participants. An addition 10 participants can register for the shared lunch only from 12pm. A waitlist will be made once all places have been filled. Please email info@tetuhi.art to RSVP and indicate if you would like to participate in the cooking and/or the shared lunch, and if you have any dietary restrictions.

This workshop is part of Soil of Cultures’ exhibition Sometimes, the Heart Yearns for Bananas, which seeks to raise awareness about the phenomenon of forced migration across the Global South. The show runs from 9 February to 13 April 2025.
