Scarborough Fair” is a well-known English folk song that has become popular over the centuries in various arrangements and interpretations, especially through the interpretation of Simon and Garfunkel. The music from the time of Shakespeare’s England is framed by a varied and atmospheric variety, as well as the radiant virtuosity of the Italian High Baroque and the French sensibility.

Come and join us for the 18th International Akaroa Music Festival split between wonderful Akaroa and the ‘The Piano’ event centre in Christchurch.
For the 2025 series, we have created an exciting programme, featuring NZ’s most accomplished musicians as well as fabulous international guest artists.
An array of national and international guest artists will present concerts ranging from classical to jazz, from Irish folk to baroque music, from Opera to Vivaldi’s famous 4 Seasons presented by our resident cello ensemble. We truly think that we have something for everyone in this year’s festival.
As every year, we will bring stellar young talented from NZ and Australia along, performing in a lunchtime concert series at ‘The Piano’ and getting the opportunity to be working with our high calibre international guests such as Magdalena Pikuła from the Warsaw Chamber Opera. We can’t wait to start the festival and are hoping to have you all as our guests.
