This talk discusses why Irma Stern was one of the most influential artists in Southern Africa. The talk covers her luxurious flower paintings and her many portraits. The talk is an introduction to South African painting and also addresses important contemporary themes relating to the depiction of race, colonialism and the appropriation of African culture.

Christopher has worked as a Director and Co-Director at Palace House and the Attingham Summer School for the Study of Historic Houses and Collections. Christopher has curated and catalogued several culturally significant collections, including Royal collections. Christopher is currently studying his doctorate on all aspects of royal patronage.

There is a fee of $25 / $10 for students which includes wine, tea or coffee, sandwiches and something sweet, all served afterwards and enjoyed whilst talking to others and enjoying Peter’s talk, given as a live broadcast from the United Kingdom.
