Jazz Club 2025: Mad for Trad - River City Jazzmen

In the best traditions of the 50's trad explosion, the River City Jazzmen will draw on the best of the three B's; Ball, Barber and Bilk to revisit the heady 'traditional pop' which poured out of UK pubs in the days before the Liverpool invasion.

Trad jazz figured regularly and unashamedly at the top of the Hit Parades vying at times with the highly accessible Skiffle as it slowly encroached on Trad territory. Skiffle king, Lonnie Donnegan had a foot in both camps as he was Chris Barber's banjo player! But the hits kept coming and RCJ is keen tonight to share our memorable, metropolitan, musical musings with the discerning Christchurch Trad cognoscenti!!

Jazz Club ticket options
There are two ticket options: a cabaret style table (premium seating) with a complimentary drink ($40), or theatre-style seating ($20/$25). If you choose the cabaret style table (premium seating), you are also able to purchase a platter for two ($25). We will seek dietary requirements closer to the event. The bar will be open throughout, of course.
