Join us for a hands-on Kintsugi workshop with expert Yoko Shimoyama. Kintsugi, or "Golden Joinery," is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics using lacquer and gold powder, turning flaws into a celebration of imperfection.
In this tutorial, Yoko will guide you through the process and show you how to restore your broken ceramics in a unique and beautiful way.

No experience is needed. You will receive step-by-step instructions on how to restore your ceramics with a golden touch.
Spaces are limited, book your spot today for this memorable and creative experience!
This event is suitable for adults aged 18+.

What you need to bring:
- a broken ceramic (ideally an item with 1 to 3 broken or chipped pieces)
- a box to transport your repaired ceramics home.

All materials for the repair will be provided.

To be prepared for the workshop, please:
- tie up long hair
- avoid wearing tops with long, loose sleeves. Please wear something fitted or a top with sleeves you can easily roll up.

We’ve planned an exciting range of repair-themed events for the Cambridge Autumn Festival, click on our profile to check out the other options on offer. All repair projects are brought to you by Waipā District Council and are funded by the Waste Disposal Levy from the Ministry for the Environment.
