Do you want to take your knitting to the next level? Developed for students who have attended CEC’s Beginner’s Knitting course, join craft tutor Stella Carruthers as she teaches tips and tricks for next tier knitting in a 3-hour intensive. In this workshop you will learn about some of the technical aspects of knitting in a supportive environment.

Build on your learning from the Beginner’s Knitting class. Come and discover tips and tricks needed to take your knitting to the next level. Learn about some of the technical aspects of knitting to better understand both the processes involved in the craft as well as the final product created.

Learn how to read a knitting ball band and knitting pattern as well as gain a basic understanding of knitting abbreviations. Practice determining yarn weight using the wraps per inch method and the rules of substituting yarn. Learn what tension is in knitting, why it is important and how to alter it as needed.

By the end of the course, you will have a set of notes guiding you in the basic technicalities of knitting for best practice going forward in your crafting journey. You will have practiced the wraps per inch method, practiced a couple of techniques as outlined by knitting abbreviations and understand tension as both a principle and practical guide in the craft of knitting.

Bring pen and paper to take notes, a 30cm ruler, a pair of 4mm knitting needles and 1 ball of 4 ply yarn for practicing techniques.
