You will complete a simple item to get you going and become enthused to make individual garments / projects of your choice e.g; quilts, dress-ups , soft furnishings and accessories , toys , altering and individualising your creations, .All with group and individual tuition . At the end of the course you will have caught the " sewing bug " and have the skills to carry on on your own or return for a further term to sew with a group and an experienced tutor's guidance.

Course Requirements:

Fabric, Scissors, Bernina bobbin or bring your own sewing machine if you have one, Quick unpick, some scrap fabric, thread to match your fabric (only Mettler or Gutermann sewing thread can be used in the class machines and these are the best quality to ensure the best garment), pins, tape measure, pattern, fabric and any other requirements.

Some good patterns to choose from are: Pyjama Pants, Simplicity 9127 or 1563 or 9129 or 3935, Bag Simplicity 9308 or 9298, Apron Simplicity 9302 or 9301 or 9411. If not available at Spotlight or Morelands, Fabrics www.patternpostie.co.nz is very good and prompt and a very reasonable courier fee. Fabric and any requirements (buttons, elastic etc) as listed on the back of the pattern. Please wash and iron your fabric before your first class.
