If you appreciate poetry or want to try something new, why not pop along to our Poetry Group at Dannevirke Library, the first Tuesday of each month at 10.30am (excluding January).
Not only do we help each other with our writing, and share our efforts (if you like), but we also do themes every month.
Get a free cuppa and meet some like-minded people. If you're lucky, host librarian Pamela Dais might bring some baking!
Calendars are available at our libraries showing the themes for 2025 which are:
February - discussion around proposed anthology publication
March - limericks (bring your own or one to share)
April - Haiku
May - Blackout poetry (materials supplied)
June - Cut out poetry (materials supplied)
July - Visual prompt poems (bring photos or images with you)
August - NZ poetry (bring a poem by a NZer or your own)
September - Rhyming poetry
October - Random acts of poetry (bring poems to share around community)
November - Acrostic poems (as a group, we'll create a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word, name or phrase)
December - Snapshot (bring a poem that sums up the year for you) and Christmas celebration
