Make Eco-Friendly Paints Workshop

Are you eager to learn how to make eco-friendly paints and explore the versatility of natural pigments? Join our hands-on workshop, led by the passionate Holly Clarke, and discover the art of creating non-toxic, wallet-friendly paints with incredible health and environmental benefits.

Did you know natural pigments can remain vibrant for centuries when stored properly? Unlike commercial paints that degrade due to toxic fillers and preservatives, these eco-friendly alternatives retain their potency and colour. This workshop will open your eyes to the endless possibilities of sustainable art supplies!

WHAT YOU WILL MAKE IN THE WORKSHOP:
The day kicks off with crafting your own pastels. You’ll create three unique pastels, blending your colours and taking them home to dry. Once set, they’ll be ready for use the next day. This process often sparks a “lightbulb moment” as participants realize how simple it is to make high-quality, DIY art supplies.

In the second session, you’ll dive into paint mixing. Experiment with blending pigments to see how their unique personalities interact on paper. Holly will guide you in understanding the nuances of each pigment, offering tips for achieving beautiful, harmonious colours.

Finally, we’ll scale up! Using glass mullers and tiles, you’ll create larger quantities of paint, combining pigments with a water-based medium. Your custom blend will be stored in an aluminum paint tube—ideal for maintaining colour consistency and preventing drying.

At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home detailed handouts, including ingredient lists and step-by-step instructions, so you can continue creating your own eco-friendly art supplies.
