Join us for a New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) tour for Deaf visitors through A Century of Modern Art. This 90-minute tour will be led by Deaf artist Abbie Twiss with supporting interpretation by Platform Interpreting NZ.

On loan from the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio, A Century of Modern Art offers a sweeping survey of the visionary painters who transformed modern art. The exhibition comprises 57 iconic works by 53 artists, including Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Vincent van Gogh, and premier examples by pioneering artists of the American and European avant-garde.

Experience the diversity and innovation that defined modern art movements. From the emotive brushstrokes of Van Gogh to the evocative landscapes of Monet and Rauschenberg’s bold abstractions, these works not only revolutionised Western art history but continue to inspire new generations.

Twiss has worked as an artist, art teacher and interpreter in Melbourne and Aotearoa. A graduate of University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts, she has regularly exhibited since 1994.

Bookings for the NZSL tour are essential and are limited to 15 places – please secure your tickets through the Book Now button below. If you hold a Gallery membership, please have your membership number ready when you book your tickets.
