Hutt Valley Orchestra's first concert for 2025 features composers from Europe and New Zealand.
The concert will open with Kenneth Young's evocative "Kāpiti". This was composed for last year for Kāpiti Concert Orchestra's anniversary. Following Ravel's "Pavane", our soloist Natalija Sekicki performs De Beriot's "Scene de Ballet". Natalija won the Hutt Valley Orchestra Cup presented to the most talented player at the Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competition in 2024.
In the second half of the concert, we play Dvorak's "New World Symphony". There is much drama in this work and is known especially for its haunting cor anglais solo.
