Summer Xia, 2022 Raw Finalist, shares her journey of becoming a ‘Chiwi’, a first-gen Chinese immigrant navigating Kiwi life and rediscovering her own culture. From being her mum’s A+ daughter to challenging stereotypes, casual racism, and her parents’ obsession with grandchildren, Summer’s sharp observations and personal stories explore family, identity, and belonging—with laughs every step of the way.

Part-Indian, part-English, Shirin wonders if her failure to belong comes from being brown - or sometimes not brown enough? Taking a shallow dive into politics and identity, Shirin looks on the funny side of living, working and bringing up children in New Zealand.
