Number 20!!!
Our event is very special as this will be the 20th year of maritime in Picton! We welcome all our whanau and wider regions to the Picton Foreshore for a FREE to enter - and lots more FREE stuff for families to enjoy throughout the days.
We start with the Locals concert on Friday 17th January 2025 from 4pm through to 9.30pm. From 4pm we have our youngsters performing on the big stage. The line up is from 11 yr olds through to 80+.
We are very excited to have the fabulous PRINS back who has been touring the world. Some of you may remember her from 2024 festival. PRINS is great for the teenagers. "A Minor Thing" from Blenheim will be also be performing and the finale is "Jodie and the Stowaways" from Wellington. It is Jodie's first time to our festival. She will have you all up dancing in the evening.
Saturday
We have an amazing On Water Events which includes the fun Mussel Rafts already to go - Free to enter - we supply the life jackets and Rarangi Surf Life Savers are there to make sure everyone is safe.
The Build a raft is another fabulous event which is Free to enter - bring your family of four - all equipment is supplied to build your own raft - a race on the water is always funs to watch - sometimes they don't float.
The Dragon Boat will be on the water this year and taking people for a row and of course the Clinker Boat Society are having Free rides across the foreshore - life jackets are supplied and this is also Free. Dory Boats will also be on the water for the younger children to have a go and lots more.
There is lots to see on the foreshore with different groups having information tents e.g. Clinker Boat Society, Coastguard etc.
The Galley where all the lovely food stalls are and then on London Quay outside Le Cafe will be the Craft Stalls. The Road will be closed from 7am to late on Saturday 18th January 2025.
The entertainment line up is fabulous with some artist returning e.g. Zappo the Magician who will perform in Treasurer Island which is Free for all the children. Zappo has three shows. The face painters are also returning - This is Free too.
We are welcoming for the first time Loopy Tunes from Christchurch. Some little ones may have seen them at Pre School around Marlborough last year. They come highly recommended.
The Marlborough Youth Trust climbing wall will be Free for those who like the heights from during the day along with the bouncy castles which have a small charge of $5.00 for the whole day - this is to keep the crowd safe.
The Interislander Tug of Wars will be running through the day on Saturday which are a lot of fun to watch to and once again Free to enter.
The evening entertainment includes Dave St Johns "Full House" which a local band. The lovely Gareth Barker is coming back for the 20th year of Maritime. A special appearance from Andrew, Paddy and Alan will be a special treat playing piano accordion, a guitar - A swampy melting pot of country, folk, American's and blues. The Blueprint are coming back with their band from Wellington.
