Wairarapa Word presents the book Route 52 - A Big Lump of Country Unknown by Simon Burt.
Simon Burt will be in conversation with Karl du Fresne.
Wairarapa writer Simon Burt, prompted by curiosity, hooked up his caravan, checked Meg the foxie in the back seat, and set off to find what makes Route 52, the touring back road between Masterton and Waipukurau tick.
He shared beers, cuppas and scones, and tales of trouble and joy with the people.
Route 52 tells their stories of isolation, joy, architecture, and humour.

Simon Burt grew up in London and Wellington. After a brief primary teaching career, he worked in the commercial film and television industry. He lives outside Carterton with his wife Pip Steel and their fox terrier Meg. They have two adult sons, Oliver and Lucien. Route 52 is his first book.
A journalist for more than 50 years, Karl Du Fresne is the author of three books: The Right to Know News Media Freedom in New Zealand, The New Zealand Wine-Lover's Companion, and A Road Tour of American Song Titles: From Mendocino to Memphis. He grew up in Waipukurau and now lives in Whakaoriori Masterton.
