Heritage Rail excursion from Christchurch to Kaikoura & Return

Sunday 2nd March

Join Steam Incorporated, on a one-off journey behind recently restored DC 4818, as you travel from Christchurch to the beautiful coastal town of Kaikoura and return. This full-day rail adventure offers a unique blend of nostalgia and natural beauty, perfect for families, friends, and railway enthusiasts alike.

Departing from Addington Station, the train takes you north through the picturesque Canterbury Plains, where rolling farmland stretches as far as the eye can see. As we venture north, the landscape transforms, with rugged mountains and winding rivers leading you to the spectacular Pacific coastline. Rejoining the coast at Claverley, our train skirts the Pacific, before we drop down to Kaikoura.

At Kaikoura, you will have 40min to stretch your legs, wander to the beach, grab a coffee and collect your pre-ordered lunch at the platform. Known for its world-famous whale-watching opportunities and delicious fresh seafood, Kaikoura offers something for everyone.

This is the first day return heritage excursion to Kaikoura for Cantabrians in a number of years - so tickets are sure to go!
