Join us for a special movie night in support of Latin Cuirs, a group that creates safe and empowering spaces for queer migrant communities, with a focus on Latin American queer migrants in Aotearoa.
About the movie:
Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation. Anchored by a pair of terrific performances swathed in vivid colors, Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar's English-language feature debut attests to his universal fluency in provocative filmmaking.
About Latin Cuirs:
Latin Cuirs is a group for queer migrant communities with an emphasis on Latin American queer migrant communities in Aotearoa regardless of immigration status. Through different art forms, resources and events Latin Cuirs creates a space where migrant queer people are able to bring their full selves. Latin Cuirs offers events, movie screenings, educational workshops and information sharing in online spaces. Rooted in a commitment to both its communities and the values of tikanga Māori, Latin Cuirs strives to provide inclusive spaces that connect with and honor Tangata Whenua.
This fundraiser will help us continue offering free or low-cost services to support and empower our communities. Every ticket purchased contributes directly to our mission of creating spaces where queer Latin American migrants can bring their full selves.
