The Skiffy Rivets provide a colourful tapestry of songs for every mood - a mix of Americana, folk, swing, country, bluegrass and blues. The band features two and three part harmonies in every song - with a rich blend of Holly's authentic American twang, Pete's voice full of character and texture, and Sue's effortless, pitch perfect high notes and harmonies. The vocals are gilded and framed by Pete’s guitar and dobro, played with drive and finesse, and Cathy on the double bass keeping the Skiffy train chugging along.

Pete Parnham is also known for his guitar, dobro and bass-playing in the Flaming Mudcats, and previously the Remarkables and numerous other bands. Cathy is known being part of The DownUnderdogs trio. Sue Tearne and Holly Carrington met decades ago in the Sweet Adelines, and have sung together in the Wendy-Lu’s, and separately and together backing for Martha Louise, Janet Muggeridge, Carol Bean and many others. Holly now also performs with Wellington band The Bitter Brothers. The Skiffies first became known at Auckland folk venues and later elsewhere in the North Island, including as a guest at Wellyfest, at Wellington Bluegrass Society, and various Wellington acoustic/folk clubs and house concerts.

Their CD Elbow Room showcases the Skiffy Rivets’ stunning harmonies in a range of genres.
