Kids need their own gigs too, and this four-hour music extravaganza is just for the younger generation!
The stage will come alive with short performances from highly rated children’s music performers through to electro pop and Taranaki Smokefree Rockquest regional first and second place winners. Hosted by Michal Bush.
5.30pm - 6.00pm | Music With Michal
Michal Bush has been delighting children with her fun and catchy music since 2021. With four impressive albums under her belt, she is a staple in homes and classrooms worldwide. With a contagious passion for the children’s genre and clear vision for creating music for wellbeing, Music with Michal is a force of kindness, joy and laughter that is winning young hearts all over the world.
6.10pm - 6.45pm | Aro
Aro consists of Charles (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Te Ata, Ngāti Mutunga) and Emily Looker. Emily's honey-voiced jazz blends with Charles' full throated percussive sound with shades of haka. Their new album He Rākau, He Ngārara, released in April, will bring new sounds and stories to the TSB Festival of Lights!
6.50pm - 7.15pm | Lydia and Finn Clark
2024 Kōkako Award winner Lydia Clark is just 11 years old and loves to sing and play ukulele and piano. She won the Kōkako Best Children’s Performer Award with her song Of Love We Are Made, co-written with her brother Finn Clark. Lydia’s dreams are to one day become a professional singer who writes songs, bringing lots of joy to people around the world.
7.20pm - 7.55pm | JOLA BURNS
JOLA BURNS is an electrifying pop/electronic cousin duo hailing from Whakatū (Nelson). Their sound, influenced by the mesmerising vocals of Jorja Smith and the innovative production of Flume, is an irresistible musical fusion. Their exciting, multidimensional style saw them place second in the Smokefree Rockquest 2023 solo/duo national final.
8.05pm - 8.35pm | South Road
South Road is a six-piece rock band from Spotswood College in New Plymouth. Combining rock, reggae and funk, they won the 2024 Taranaki Smokefree Rockquest!
8.50pm - 9.20pm | Ungoliant
Ungoliant are a Taranaki band from Te Paepae O Aotea Hāwera and Patea Area School. They were winners of the Taranaki Smokefree Rockquest in 2023 and claimed second place in 2024. Their drummer won the best musician award both years.
