Organised by Tai ki Maunga, Maunga ki Tai, this year’s Waitangi Hīkoi is a call to action for all who stand for justice, equity, and the protection of Māori rights.
Starting at Victoria Square and finishing at New Brighton Pier, this hīkoi represents more than just a walk. It is a powerful act of unity, resistance, and commitment to upholding the promises of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
With the current political climate, including the proposed Treaty Principles Bill, we must come together to ensure this government does not erode the hard-won rights of Māori. This is a pivotal moment to amplify our voices, to demand Tino Rangatiratanga, and to assert Mana Motuhake for the generations who come after us.
We hīkoi for our tūpuna, for our mokopuna, and for the unwavering role of Mana Whenua in this whenua we call home. Join us as we march for justice, for equity, and for the enduring mana of our people.
Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi. Together, we can make a difference.
