Join us as we celebrate the beloved Filipino dish, lechon! Filipino Lechon Festival as part of Auckland Council's World of Cultures Festival. This exciting culinary extravaganza is a public taste testing event. The event is happening on the 5th of April (Saturday) from 11am to 3pm at Bucklands and Eastern Beaches Memorial Hall
We invite all home cooks, professional chefs and cooking students to our second culinary challenge. Last year, we launched our Adobo Festival. This time, we're focusing on lechon -- a dish either made with pork or lechon as a way to cook a dish (via spit-roast). Your entry dish could be lechong manok, lechong baka, lechong baboy or variations of the pork dish such as lechong kawali, lechon belly, whole lechon, Cebu lechon, lechon liempo, etc. Showcase your culinary talents with your best rendition of lechon and be in to win one of the People's Choice Awards (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Throughout the festival, guests will taste your lechon and vote on their top choice. At the end of the day, we will tally the votes and announce the winners.
To celebrate the rich variety of lechon versions, contestants will prepare bite-sized versions of their specialties, offering the audience a chance to taste and vote for their favorite desserts. Each bite-sized piece should only measure around 1inch by 1 inch.
If you're just excited to taste Filipino lechon, we invite you to come along for the taste-test experience. Be the judge and help us decide on the winners. Only one vote per person. We will also be running our second Filipino Market @ East Auckland on the same day, so even if you don't get to try lechon, you can always find other good Filipino food that day.
