To celebrate XYZZY winning Best Art Film at Dome Under and its recent nomination for the prestigious Best of Earth Fulldome Awards, we’re thrilled to offer a unique opportunity to experience this groundbreaking film in the Perpetual Guardian Planetarium at Tūhura Otago Museum.

Created by acclaimed contemporary artist Jess Johnson and visionary director Simon Ward in collaboration with Tūhura Otago Museum, XYZZY is an immersive, art-driven planetarium experience that pushes the boundaries of visual storytelling.

The film seamlessly merges Johnson’s intricate hand-drawn illustrations with Ward’s cutting-edge animation, transporting viewers into abstract realms, surreal landscapes, and mind-bending visuals. From flesh mandalas and self-replicating architecture to alien deities and undulating forms, the experience is set to a hypnotic, 90s-inspired electronic synth soundtrack that elevates the journey.
