Kiri Eriwata

New Zealand born musician Kiri Eriwata has released a number of contemporary radio singles and collaborations diverse in genres of pop, soul, folk, rock, urban Māori and soul. Her current release 'Nā te kukune' is Kiri's first te reo Māori waiata. The collaboration with Kevin Mark Trail (The Streets, UK) is featured on iwi radio stations nationwide.

In 2011 Kiri performed on stage in the Auckland Festival production of ‘Ihimaera’ and later that year, at the Auckland Readers and Writers Festival singing with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in a performance of ‘Witnessing Parihaka’, a semi-staged music theatre production. For the latter piece she was the vocal, stage consultant, and children’s vocal coach. These mixed media performances have inspired Kiri to cultivate skills in te reo Māori with a focus on cultural aspects of producing music.

Kiri has undertaken session work for large-scale festivals, corporate functions, jingles while working successfully producing, recording and editing her original compositions. She lends her voice to NZ and international artists including Bobby McFerrin (US), Leo Sayer (UK), Bonnie Tyler (UK), Hollie Smith, Che Fu, Jamie Cullum (UK) and Sarah Blasko (Aus).

Combining these skills, Kiri also works closely with artists as a performance consultant and vocal teacher. She is currently lecturing in music industry studies at The University of Auckland, and has given a number of workshops on all aspects of vocal performance and arranging for students studying in the BMus Popular Music Programme at The University of Auckland.

"This thoroughly engaging and talented singer/songwriter has 'earned her stripes' ... and momentum is building as her reputation for penning great songs grows. Her style allows for a unique flavour and really showcase's Kiri's vocal talent. Her voice is clear but with plenty of character which makes her vocals immediately recognisable." ENZ Ltd
