Ladies and Gentlemen, the wait is finally over! After months of speculation The Frontier Touring Company are delighted to confirm that the incomparable Ms. Christina Aguilera will tour Australia and New Zealand this July with her "Back To Basics" 2007 Tour.
It's been three long years since Christina last wowed Australian audiences on her sold out Stripped tour. For New Zealanders, however, the wait has been even longer! The "Back To Basics" tour will be their very first opportunity to experience the sassy and accomplished four time Grammy Award winner on stage.
Highlighting her platinum selling album Back To Basics (out now through SonyBMG), Christina's "Back To Basics" World Tour is currently blitzing across the United States to glowing reviews.
The Houston Chronicle wrote "while her former teen-queen counterparts have languished as tabloid fodder Aguilera has emerged as the one true heir to the pop-queen throne. She laid claim to the glitzy crown [at] the first U.S. date…on her Back To Basics Tour."
The LA Times said, "instead of merely trading in moves now recognized as hot or cute, she presents her own performance as a sex symbol within hallowed traditions of female spectacle. This tour…matches her songs of sexual charisma and self-love to a pageant that whirls through the realms of Vegas showgirls, fan dancers, sideshow tassel-twirlers, dominatrixes and burlesque queens."
Christina has assembled an acclaimed production team for her concert tour featuring choreographer and director, Jamie King (Madonna, Janet Jackson, Prince) and Roberto Cavalli, who is the tour's exclusive costume designer. Working together, the team have created a modern inventive vision fused with elements of retro glamour.
The "Back to Basics" Australia & New Zealand Tour will feature a unique stage design that will allow Christina's fans unprecedented access to the stage with unbelievable sight lines. The tour will feature three distinct stage scenes, illuminated by more than 600 moving lights, and a state-of-the-art hydraulic system.
No expense has been spared in the staging of Christina's "Back To Basics" tour with nearly 500,000 kg's worth of production and 130 tour costumes for Christina, her 25 band and dancers.
The Toronto Globe and Mail wrote "visually, the show felt like a Broadway fantasia on themes from the thirties, with references to the steamy vigour of the Savoy Ballroom, to the white-clad elegance of the Cotton Club, and to the risque pantomime of Clara Bow and Louise Brooks..."
Christina Aguilera has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, scored four #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and has won four Grammy Awards and a Latin Grammy Award. Her third critically acclaimed album, Back to Basics, debuted at #1 on four of Billboard's music charts in the United States and also hit #1 in 15 countries including Australia, U.K., Canada, Japan, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. The double-disc set, produced primarily by DJ Premier and Linda Perry utilises an orchestra, choir, string quartet and jazz horns, to blend a vintage raw sound with modern hip hop and soul flair.
General public on-sale commences at 9am local time on Wednesday 2 May.
